Matthew Hoag has spent 25 years building electronic music culture — from the inside, across multiple continents, at every level of the industry.
He began as a DJ and artist manager, collaborating closely with UMEK before moving into leadership roles that shaped some of the world’s most recognised entertainment brands. As Programming Director at Kazantip Republic, European Director at The Bullitt Agency — representing Deep Dish, Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez of Masters At Work, John Acquaviva, Reboot and others — and then as Global Commercial Director at Elrow, he drove the brand’s expansion across 42 countries and six continents, turning a cult Barcelona party into one of the most sought-after electronic music experiences on the planet.
Ibiza 2006–2009 was the formative chapter — where he learned that the best growth protects what is culturally real. That principle has guided everything since. Barcelona followed, then Shanghai, now Zurich.
As part of the leadership team at Utopia Music AG during its first phase of growth, Matthew contributed to an aggressive period of expansion and transformation — helping drive a series of strategic acquisitions that repositioned the company as a significant force in music technology.
Today, Matthew leads Interstellar.plus — a strategic growth consultancy for entertainment ventures across Europe, MENA, Asia, and Latin America. The consultancy works with a global portfolio spanning festival promoters and live event companies in Sicily, Egypt, India and Southern Africa; event technology platforms in South Africa, Egypt and Sweden; multimedia agencies in Belgium, Russia and Italy; and artist management and booking companies across Europe. The work focuses on what matters most at inflection points: brand positioning, commercial architecture, international expansion, and the decisions that determine whether a great idea becomes a global brand.
He holds an ESIC Executive MBA and speaks six languages.
