Matthias Strobel is the President of MusicTech Germany, the Federal Association for music technology in Germany, founder and Vice-President of Music Tech Europe, the European umbrella association of national music technology associations in Europe.
He is Germany’s main point of contact for music technology innovation and his network of entrepreneurs, industry executives, researchers, and his connections to (inter)national policy makers, andmedia representatives make him one of Europe’s renowned experts in that area.
Matthias Strobel serves as a consultant, mentor, and independent manager to help accelerate avant-garde approaches from companies in the music sector. Determined to further the innovative potential – and thus future success – of artists and entrepreneurs, he uses his experience and leverages his network to help create the music ecosystem of tomorrow.
He is a lectures about music technology at Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at the University of New York Berlin and facilitates events on innovation for the music ecosystem to foster the knowledge transfer between visionaries from all intersections of the creative industries.
Matthias Strobel curates conferences and runs his own regular event series, the Berlin Music Tech Meetups which has grown into a community of more than 2.300 music tech enthusiasts from Berlin. In September 2024, Matthias Strobel started “NEW VISIONS For Music and Sound”, a new conference in Berlin that investigates fascinating new visions for music & sound across the entire music ecosystem and other creative industry sectors with a focus on speakers that consist entirely of visionary artists, researchers, polymaths and veterans from the music sector.
Strobel has spoken at conferences around the world, sharing his experiences and expertise on cross-sectoral innovation within vertical industries through emerging technologies and the potential of collaboration for the recreation of the music ecosystem. He served as a judge and mentor on some of Europe’s most prestigious startup competitions and accelerators for music technology.He also works on different projects with Handiclapped Berlin to create a more inclusive environment for live music.
